Jason, Sometimes I Wonder if You’re More Trouble Than You’re Worth…

Ten Down, 10984 to go.

Ten Down, 10984 to go.

The real Jason, who these adorably chocolatey sweets are named after is no trouble at all. He’s definitely not anywhere near as complicated as the ganache I’ve put in this sucker. Unless you want to be a frustratingly soft chocolate mix that has to be put back in the freezer after 10 truffles, Jason, by all means, you be that complicated! Sigh. I really need this to work out. Daddy Bee had to turn off the water to the sink in the scary kitchen. I’m gonna be Laura Ingalls-ing it for a while.

I’m thinking of getting a skype number and hawking my Chippy Dough Truffles at birthdays and special occasions. Bestie gave me a suggestion, but I’m unsure if that suggestion would work, as it involves a lot of time that I don’t think the suggested has (or should spend on working on my evil kitchen). Ah well. In an hour or so, I’ll make 10 more truffles. Until then, we’ll see about doing a FB page and a skype number… some cheapo business cards as well. TTYL my wonderful readers!

Los Angeles Day Trip

Photo Jan 31, 10 25 23 AM

Bestie needed to go to Los Angeles, so yesterday I had Optimus serviced because his radiator was low on coolant only to find that Optimus needed even more work, but everything else could wait until next week. Today we found out that Optimus needs his A/C serviced. One wouldn’t think that would be such an issue since we’re freezing up here in MEESHYland (it’s 57F right now), but good God, my car thermometer said the outside temp was 80 in the LA area. We were dying. I always consider my front passenger my “wingman” who helps keep me on the right track and awake when I’m feeling snoozy, but today the heat rendered my wingman asleep. *shakes fist at the sun* Continue reading

Bucket List Update:

Photo Jan 30, 4 32 52 PM

It’s so cutes!

You did it! You did it! You said that you would do it, And indeed you did. I thought that you would rue it; I doubted you’d do it. But now I must admit it That succeed you did.

Well now I have the urge to watch My Fair Lady. I did it! After 6 years of saying I’d get a tattoo, I finally did it! I’m so happy and it didn’t hurt as much as I thought it would. The only thing I’m freaked out about now is staph infection. “Staph is everywhere,” he said. And while it’s a fact I knew… I didn’t take it to heart until now. Everything is getting washed.

The Jason Truffle: A Lesson in Patience

Trufflin'

Trufflin’

ARGH! I had to take some time off of the Jason Truffle (working on it for The Sweet, Sweet Business) or I was going to break Big Momma Bee’s vintage pyrex bowls with my new, non-Voss-water-bottle rolling pin. Doing everything by hand – not having fancy things like a stand mixer and food processor – is starting to get to me. Plus my ganache is still too soft to handle, even though I fridged it overnight. There’s gotta be a better way… ooh a coffee mill!

Ga-Freaking-Nache

Freaking Cheap Chocolate

Freaking Cheap Chocolate

Quick night post: Dad said we should eat leftovers for dinner, so no Daddy Bee’s Dinner tonight. Instead, I’m starting on what will be called The Jason Truffle. It should be exciting, though this cheapo choco seems way too runny. Wish I could have bought my usual Ghirardelli’s, but they didn’t have it at Smart and Final. Lame.

Spam Musubi: Pocket Sized Comfort Food

Oh you deliciously shaped meat, you!

Oh you deliciously shaped meat, you!

Ugh. I’m so bummed about the kitchen. I’m even more bummed than when I lost my Ray-Ban Wayfarers at TJMaxx, and if I haven’t told you, I love me some sunnies. I’ve been trying since 4AM to distract myself from it. I cleaned, I internet-ed, I even made a kitchen plan on Ikea.com. Nothing could distract me from the blues. Then! It hit me. What’s the one thing that has been distracting me all January? Cooking! I figured it was a good time to make some comfort food. Continue reading

We Should Be On Extreme Makeover…

I wish I was being my usual overdramatic self, but our house is literally falling apart. One of the two bathrooms is pretty much unusable, one of the rooms gets no electricity, our central air is full on stupid and now our kitchen is dying. My three person family can pretty much live with the first three, but that last one well, if you find a way to live without food, let me know. I have this very deep fear that the kitchen sink is going to fall and when I wake up everything will be flooded. It looks to be on its last legs.

I really have no idea what to do. I’ve had such trouble finding a job that doesn’t involve caregiving that I’ve pretty much given up and really would rather start my business. However, that doesn’t solve the immediate problem. I think I’m going to do what I used to when I was in high school… fundraise. I mean, it’s not AS shameful as panhandling right? Once February starts, I’m gonna start selling Costco chocolate. I know what other option I have. I don’t want to be Laura Ingalls, washing the dishes in a bucket, forever.

Daddy Bee’s Dinner: Whole Wheat Spaghetti with Homemade Marinara, Meatballs and Post-Cooking Angst

Photo Jan 28, 6 35 18 PM

I swear, sometimes, Daddy Bee is a big pain in my famous ass. That’s a tennis reference if you didn’t get it. He doesn’t give constructive criticism at all, but his face tells all. Which is actually really weird since he’s a poker face master. This week I’m going to be making all the dinners. I’m hoping for all sorts of freshness and hopefully some smiles on the old man’s face.  Continue reading
